Final Review
Take this book as one of the guides to protecting your business
on line!
As more and more businesses today are relying heavily on computers,
the issue of security is critical. We are being attackt with
different sorts of tools.
Some try to use human engineering to get access to account
IDs and passords. Others try to shoot at exchange server with
large amounts of messages. Some attach viruses hoping to even blast
of the heads of other mail using systems (ERP, CRM, IIS).
The number of employees operating from mobile offices and using
portable devices(pda,
notebooks) for network pose
a threat to access points and data out of reach from the protecting
hounds (hoping to get their teath into your leg) lerking around your
office building.
The book illustrates very well what is in danger of being attacked
- - what in simple terms must be done.
You do not need to be an IT crack to understand this book. Most important
is that you get the message it tries to convey.
As already mentioned security risks
have also increased through wide email access - making valuable
systems even more vulnerable to attacks.
Notebook & PDA theft also puts sensitive, unencrypted information
at risk. Each year the number of significantly destructive security
incidents - widely - publicized virus infections and denial
of service attacks--is escalating, so how can companies protect
their information effectively and economically?
The answers can be found inside Access Denied. Take this very serious.
As an example mid 2002 MCSE Magazine was being attacked by Spam
with an increase of 50% per day! This means that each editor
would have to add at least 5 addresses to his/her filter each day!
This useful resource provides hands-on tools and strategies for selecting
the right technology solutions for creating a successful and
cost-effective security policy.
The gap between business and technology canfade away by addressing
both the need for profit and the requirement to invest in stronger
security technology.
This book covers everything from data encryption methods to
distribution list management, the book addresses key security
risks associated with email, Web sites, portable devices, ecommerce,
networks and computer systems.
Through use of real-world examples the expert authors explain
concepts, terminology, and related business issues, and offer
solid security recommendations for small- medium-, and large-sized
companies.
Appropriate for both technology-implementers and the non-IT audience
this book is ideal for any executive or business owner. After
reading this book you will know why you want to secure company
information, form an efficient response team, and maintain
a competitive edge in todays fast-moving, high-tech environment.

You do not need to be an IT crack to understand this book. Most important

I really like this book because it points towards the hot and critical
buttons. Besides, it provides some great best practices as
solutions to some common security problems.
A common problem with security is missing perception of the dangers
possed by security holes in the heads of management.
These managers making the important decisions often can't understand
why it is possible to creat more destruction to their business than
a water leak in ther server room.
