Keeping up to date and training the young |
|
| |
It is important to train ones employees and at
the same time recognize their achievements. But as we are all progressively
dependent on IT we have to keep in mind that just investing in technology
will not solve the lack in qualified specialists.
Of course
some companies will argue that investment in existing labour will lead to their
bid for higher pay (not agreeing to their bid leads to them changing to a
different employer).
|
|
| |
They fear to loose an employee and invested
capital. But not sending one's best assets to expensive training can
lead to them spending the money themselves and then moving on to a better paid
job at a more open minded employee.
As a manager you must
therefore try not to spend the money in the wrong place but at the same time
recognize ones employees by sending them to IT courses. |
|
| |
This development has led to employees
investing more of their free time and private savings for training to get a
better job and pay.
Many researches in the US and Europe have proved this.
One of the main reasons named for
leaving a job is missing recognition by superiors.
But on
second thought they'll name money as a reason for leaving. All in all,
employees want a combination of these two facts to feel content in their
present job.
Learning by doing can be seen as a voluntary
service on an employee for his/her employer. Do not loose sight of this! |
